The present invention relates to a method for producing a lithium composite oxide and a lithium composite oxide produced by the same. More specifically, the method for producing a lithium composite oxide includes the steps of: producing a transition metal precursor; mixing the transition metal precursor with a lithium compound; and plasticizing the mixture. The step of plasticizing the mixture includes a temperature rising section, a first temperature maintaining section, a second temperature maintaining section, and a cooling section. In the second temperature maintaining section, the mixture is plasticized in an atmosphere containing 20-99 volume% of oxygen.
