The invention relates to a method for shaping a plate made of a sintered and restructured polytetrafluoroethylene and to the applications thereof. This method comprises: heating the plate to a temperature &thetas;1 at least equal to the melting temperature of a sintered polytetrafluoroethylene; and shaping the thereby heated plate by compression in a compression mold. Applications: manufacturing of notably diaphragms for diaphragm valves and pumps.
