The present invention simultaneously seals regular hexagonal cells of both the upper surface and the lower surface of a green honeycomb moulded article. Consequently, the regular hexagonal cells can be sealed efficiently. Furthermore, the regular hexagonal cells of the green honeycomb moulded article are sealed by welding partition walls to one another by inserting sealing protrusions of sealing jigs into each of a plurality of the regular hexagonal cells. Consequently, the sealing paste used in conventional methods becomes unnecessary. When a honeycomb structure is used in a diesel particulate filter, turbulence of an exhaust gas flow at end surfaces where exhaust gas is supplied and/or where exhaust gas is emitted decreases, and pressure loss can be reduced. |
