METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RECOGNISING EXPRESSION USING EXPRESSION-GESTURE DICTIONARY

An expression recognition apparatus that uses an expression-gesture dictionary is disclosed, comprising: a study image acquisition unit for generating expression learning data by obtaining data from study expressions and normalising the data, and by tracking changes in detailed movements; an expression-gesture dictionary and learning unit for indicating and storing expression recognition numerical values for each expression using a region supporting map in a motion flow image coordinate space for a set of changes in the detailed movements; an expression classifier study unit for learning expression classifications for each expression according to a data weight with respect to the expression-gesture dictionary; an image recognition acquisition unit for generating recognition data by obtaining data from a target to be recognised; and an expression recognition unit for analysing expression weights of the recognition data and recognising the expression using the expression classifier study unit.
