PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide cutting tool edges that include on a rake face a super-abrasive layer and an HPHT sintered or HPHT bonded cap layer.SOLUTION: A cap layer improves adhesion between a super-abrasive layer and an optional coating tissue for a cutting tool, and acts as a thick anti-friction layer and/or a thermal barrier coating. |
