A display device (1) for motor vehicles has a display area (2) on which different display units (3, 4, 5, 6) are arranged, by means of which display units (3, 4, 5, 6) various parameters and information can be displayed. In order to develop this display device in such a way that the application possibilities of the display device can be considerably extended with comparatively low structural expenditure, it is proposed that display units (3, 4, 5, 6) which are provided for arrangement on the display area (2) of the display device (1) can be selected, the number of display units (3, 4, 5, 6) which are arranged at the same time on the display area (2) of the display device (1) can be predefined, a timing scheme for the representation of the display units (3, 4, 5, 6) on the display area (2) of the display device (1) can be predefined, and one of a plurality of possible visual forms of visual display can be selected for each display unit (3, 4, 5, 6) displayed on the display area (2) of the display device (1). |
