HIGH-SPEED SWITCH FOR DIRECT AND ALTERNATING CURRENT

A switch can be applied in electrical networks having medium and low voltages. The switch has an electric control unit, and one or three hermetic arc-interruption chambers, each of which chambers is located in an insulated housing. Two terminal contacts are positioned in each chamber, one of which is stationary and the other of which is movable. Before actuating the switch, the chambers are filled with an oxy-hydrogenous mixture having a volume ratio of hydrogen to oxygen of 2: 1, and after actuating the switch, the chambers are filled with a fluid consisting of water and water vapors. The chambers are connected, by means of a high-speed electromagnetic release valve and a gas conduit, to a vessel with liquid for expelling the fluid, consisting of water and water vapors, created after activating the switch. The switch also has a gas generator for generating and feeding the oxy-hydrogenous mixture into the chambers, and a gas compensation reservoir for storing the oxy-hydrogenous mixture, obtained from an electrolytic cell, and for feeding same into the chambers after actuating the switch.
