Classes 110(i) and 110(iii) In a rotor for multi-stage axial-flow turbines and compressors comprising elements axially connected together, the rotor blades 1 of each stage are secured to rings 2, 3 and 4 and each pair of adjacent rings is connected to a common supporting disc 6a or 7, the two end rings being secured on their outer sides to end discs 8, 9 which have stub shafts 10, 11. The rings and supporting discs are held together by bolts 12 and the discs 6a and 7 have annular grooves to facilitate the introduction of the bolts. In the three-stage axial-flow compressor shown the rotor blades are adjustably mounted on ball bearings 5 and are operated by mechanism connected to the part 6.
