PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel treatment and/or a prevention method of osteoarthritis (OA).SOLUTION: An antagonist to a granulocyte macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) is effective to treatment of osteoarthritis. Although antagonist to GM-CSF is not limited, it contains an antibody specific to GM-CSF or a GM-CSF receptor and the antibody may be an arbitrary type, such as a mouse antibody, a rat antibody, a chimeric antibody, humanized antibody, or a human antibody. There is also provided a transgenic animal, such as a GM-CSF knockout mouse, effective for testing the antagonist in a particular disease model. |
