METHOD FOR PREPARING FILMS

A process for the preparation of free films, without the use of solvent solutions or suspensions or exposure to high temperatures and shear, using electrostatic deposition or layering is disclosed. A powder or processed powder formulation is layered onto a specifically selected or treated substrate such that upon curing of the powder into a film, the film is removed from the substrate and can be handled as a free film. The free film may be used for oral, buccal, transdermal or topical delivery of an active agent or in the absence of an active agent, as a bandage or would dressing.
