PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation apparatus capable of minimizing maintenance frequency even if the sensitivity of an optical sensor changes over time.SOLUTION: An image formation apparatus comprises: an optical sensor that includes a light-emitting unit and a light-receiving unit; a head forming an image on a rolled recording medium; a storage unit storing a first maximum threshold and a second maximum threshold indicating a range of a maximum value of the intensity of light detected by the light-receiving unit, a first minimum threshold and a second minimum threshold indicating a range of a minimum value of the intensity of light detected by the light-receiving unit, a discrimination threshold for determining whether a label of the recording medium or a black mark of the recording medium is detected, and a maximum value and a minimum value of the intensity of the light detected by the light-receiving unit whenever one image is formed; and a control unit calculating an average of the maximum values and an average of the minimum values at intervals of predetermined images, and adjusting the discrimination threshold if the average of the maximum values is not within the range from the first maximum threshold to the second maximum threshold or if the average of the minimum values is not within the range from the first minimum threshold to the second minimum threshold. |
