The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a novel and useful kinesin inhibitor; and a composition useful for the alleviation or prevention of various types of pigmentation symptoms including freckles and ephelides. Also provided is a kinesin inhibitor or a pigmentation preventing agent, each of which contains, as an active ingredient, a specific substance, i.e., rosmarinic acid or a glucoside thereof (e.g., rosmarinic acid-4-O-galactoside, rosmarinic acid-4'-O-galactoside, rosmarinic acid-3-O-glucoside, rosmarinic acid-3'-O-glucoside, rosmarinic acid-4-O-glucoside). It also becomes possible to provide various compositions (i.e., a pharmaceutical composition, a food or beverage composition, a cosmetic composition) each containing a kinesin inhibitor or a pigmentation preventing agent. |
