<p> The present technique pertains to a receiving device, a reception method, a transmitting device, and a transmission method designed to be flexibly adaptable to various modes of operation in digital broadcasting for which an IP transmission scheme is introduced. Provided is a receiving device equipped with: a receiving unit for receiving a broadcast wave of digital broadcasting for which an IP transmission scheme was used; and a control unit for acquiring, on the basis of information included in a control signal transmitted by the broadcast wave and indicating a state in which components constituting various services are delivered, components constituting a selected service in accordance with the state in which the components are delivered, and controlling the operation of each unit performing a prescribed process pertaining to the acquired components. The present technique can be applied, for example, to a television receiver.</p> |
