Provided is a liquid crystal aligning agent which contains a polymerizable compound having improved solubility in a liquid crystal aligning agent as well as improved solubility in a liquid crystal, and which has improved storage stability. The present invention discloses a liquid crystal aligning agent which contains: [I] at least one polymerizable compound that is selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by general formulae (I-1)-(I-3) (wherein each of Ar1-Ar3 independently represents a divalent organic group containing an aromatic ring having at least one halogen-substituted group; each of n1, n2 and n6 independently represents an integer of 0-6; each of n3, n4 and n5 independently represents an integer of 1-6; and each of R1-R3 independently represents a hydrogen atom or a linear or branched alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms); and [II] at least one polymer that is selected from among polyimide precursors and polyimides.
