The invention relates to a packing workplace (18) for packing articles (26), which belong to a picking order, into a shipping unit, in particular into a shipping carton, comprising a packing device (60) that has a packing plane (32) which is preferably oriented horizontally and on which the articles (26) can be stacked into an article stack (74); a stacking aid (30) with multiple lateral faces (34) on which the articles (26) can be placed for the purpose of forming the article stack (74), wherein the stacking aid (30) can be positioned on the packing plane (32); and a measuring device (20) for determining dimensions of the article stack (74) in order to produce the shipping unit in an individualized manner according to the thus determined dimensions. The invention is characterized in that the lateral faces (34) of the stacking aid (30) are connected to one another in a closed manner in a circumferential direction of the stacking aid (30); the lateral faces (30) define an open lower face (40) and an open upper face (38) of the stacking aid (30), the lateral faces (34), preferably each of the lateral faces, being longitudinally adjustable at least along the circumferential direction in order to sealingly place the lateral faces (34) against a stacked article stack (74) in a circumferential manner; and the measuring device (20) is designed to measure a length of the lateral faces (34), preferably of each of the lateral faces, of the stacking aid (30), to determine a maximum height of the article stack (74), and to transmit the measured lengths (L) and the height determined in this manner to a packaging production device (22) which produces the shipping unit according to the measured lengths (L) and the determined height. |
