The present invention relates to a boron dipyrromethene compound and a use in detecting an active oxygen material of the same. According to the present invention, a boron dipyrromethene compound can selectively and fluorescently detect hypochlorous acid ions in a solution and cells, so as to be developed into a detection dye of hypochlorous acid ions which are an active oxygen material known as material causing nervous regressive diseases.
