The present invention relates to a monofilament which is suitable for a medical raw yarn requiring precision and a printing screen yarn by easily cooling a product having single yarn fineness of 20 deniers or more, and minimizing a fineness changing rate and a cross-sectional changing rate, and to a method for producing the same. According to the method of the present invention, a general monodenier producing device is used, but instead of a conventional air-cooling device or water-cooling device, a water-cooling facility in which cooling water is fed in the same direction as a moving direction of a yarn in a vertical lower end of a spinnerette and an air-cooling facility for discharging high pressure cooling air are simultaneously formed so that dual cooling can be performed. The monofilament according to the present invention can produce a raw yarn having higher fineness than a conventional monofilament produced through an air-cooling technique with a low fineness changing rate and cross-sectional changing rate. The monofilament of the present invention can be produced with good productivity and excellent operation compared to a monofilament produced through a water-cooling technique so that the monofilament can be appropriately applied as clothing or a printing screen yarn.
