PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic toner that gives stable image density in long-term use and can suppress ghosting in development under low-temperature and low-humidity conditions.SOLUTION: The magnetic toner includes magnetic toner particles each containing a binder resin, a magnetic material and a release agent, and silica fine particles present on surfaces of the magnetic toner particles. The silica fine particles include silica fine particles (A) and silica fine particles (B): the silica fine particles (A) have a number average particle diameter (D1) of 5 nm or more and 20 nm or less as primary particles; and the silica fine particles (B) are produced by a sol-gel method and have a number average particle diameter (D1) of 40 nm or more and 200 nm or less as primary particles and an abundance ratio, as secondary particles, of 5% or more by number and 40% or less by number. A coverage ratio X1 of the silica fine particles on the surfaces of the magnetic toner particles measured by use of an X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (ESCA) is 40.0% or more by area and 75.0% or less by area. |
