In order to provide a photocatalyst material, which has alkali resistance and is suppressed in deterioration of the photocatalyst performance due to poisoning, and a method for producing the photocatalyst material, a photocatalyst material (1A) according to one embodiment of the present invention is configured of core particles (2) that contain tungsten oxide, a promoter (4) that is formed on the surface of each core particle (2), and a shell layer (3) that is formed of titanium oxide and covers the entire surfaces of each core particle (2) and the promoter (4).
