The invention discloses a helical spring (20) for a mechanical timepiece. The cross section (24) of the helical spring (20) comprises, along the height (h) of the helical spring (20), at least two regions (26i,...,26n), where i=1, ..., n, which are located one above the other and consist of a polycrystalline silicon. Each region (26i) has formed at least two anchors (28i,j) by virtue of crystals of the silicon dioxide (34) being grown into the boundary region (30), wherein each anchor (28i,j) has a roughness (Ri,j), where j=1, ..., m. Each region (26i) has arranged in it at least one anchor (28i,j) which has the same roughness as another anchor (28i-1,j',28i+1,j') of an adjacent region (26i). The invention also discloses a method for producing at least one functional element (8) for mechanical timepieces. Silicon particles or silicon crystals (1, 36) are distributed homogeneously, in respect of the size and orientation of the silicon particles or silicon crystals (1, 36), over the cross section (24) of the functional elements (8, 20). |
