Said solar cell (1) comprises the following: a first-conductivity-type or second-conductivity-type semiconductor substrate (10n) that has a light-receiving surface and a back surface (12); a first-conductivity-type first semiconductor layer (20n) formed on said back surface (12); a second-conductivity-type second semiconductor layer (30p) also formed on said back surface (12); a first electrode (50n) that is electrically connected to the first semiconductor layer (20n); a second electrode (50p) that is electrically connected to the second semiconductor layer (30p); and an insulating layer (40) for electrically insulating the first semiconductor layer (20n) and the second semiconductor layer (30p) from each other in a region (41) in which the edge (27) of the first semiconductor layer (20n) and the edge (37) of the second semiconductor layer (30p) overlap. The first electrode (50n) comprises a first transparent electrode layer (52n) and a first collecting electrode layer (55n) formed on top of said first transparent electrode layer (52n). The first transparent electrode layer (52n) is split into a main electrode layer (52n1) that is formed on top of the first semiconductor layer (20n) and a split electrode layer (52n2) that is formed on top of the second semiconductor layer (30p) in the abovementioned region (41). The main electrode layer (52n1) and the first collecting electrode layer (55n) formed on top of the split electrode layer (52n2) are formed so as to be contiguous.
