Provided is an access control device for controlling access to applications from a communication terminal. The access control device comprises: an authentication protocol management means for managing authentication information in association with each of the applications, said authentication information indicating a valid authentication protocol for authentication of the source of an access request for an application; an authentication means for authenticating, on the basis of a request from a communication terminal, the request source by means of a usable authentication protocol in the communication terminal; an access request acceptance means for accepting a request accompanying an access to a desired application from the communication terminal; and an access control means for controlling access such that the communication terminal is not allowed to access the desired application if the authentication protocol management means is not managing authentication information that is both associated with the desired application and indicates the authentication protocol that had been used for the authentication, and such that the communication terminal is allowed access to the desired application if the authentication protocol management means is managing such authentication information.
