摘要 This image processing method: extracts the curved or rotationally deviated center line of vertebral bodies in the longitudinal direction extending between the cervical vertebrae and the pelvis in step (S1); corrects the vertebral bodies into a straight line using a geometric transformation in step (S2) on the basis of the center line detected in step (S1); and extracts the regions of the vertebral bodies corrected in step (S2) by executing the vertebral body detection algorithm of step (S3). Thus, because the regions of the vertebral bodies that have been corrected in step (S2) are in a straight line, the vertebral body detection algorithm becomes simple even under adverse conditions such as the vertebral bodies themselves being curved or imaging position being positionally or rotationally deviated in the original pre-correction image. By correcting the vertebral bodies into a straight line using geometric transformation, it is possible to extract the regions of the vertebral bodies accurately in the image after correction with a simple algorithm and the regions of the vertebral bodies in the original pre-correction image can be extracted accurately using an inverse transformation (step (S4)) of the geometric transformation in step (S2).
