<p>This invention addresses the problem of improving the security of cash management operations performed by a transaction processing device while reducing the amount of labor required by said operations. This transaction processing device has a memory unit that stores information on the number of each denomination of banknotes contained in a cash cassette, information on the number of banknotes contained in a reject cassette, and state information. Upon receiving an instruction, in accordance with a determination based on the aforementioned information, the transaction processing device performs either a first audit process that does not perform a counting process to count the banknotes contained in the cash cassette or a second audit process that does perform said counting process and uses information updated thereby.</p> |
