Apparatus 100 and method of use for pumping a stimulant fluid in a hydraulic fracturing system comprises an engine, which may be a gas turbine 112 and a pressure converter 114 arranged in use to be driven by the engine at a first pressure, and to pump stimulant fluid at a second, higher pressure. A proppant 404 (fig.7) for hydraulic fracturing and use thereof, proppant comprising an aggregate material in pellet, capsule or bag form which is soluble to dissolve and release the proppant. The method of use comprises introducing the proppant to a pump 600 (fig.9) for supply to the well from a reservoir 614 (fig.9) via at least one inlet valve 616 (fig.12) and expelled via at least one outlet valve 606 (fig.12). The pressure converter may be a hydraulic power unit and further comprise two primary hydraulic loading actuators 210 (fig.5) to translate load via a loading beam 212 (fig.5) into two pairs of displacement actuators 214 (fig.5). The primary hydraulic loading actuators 210 may be arranged in diametric opposition and are arranged to move in the direction of arrows A in a reciprocating manner. |
