A self-balancing powered unicycle 100 having a single hubless wheel 120 is disclosed, along with a drive arrangement 135 for the same. The drive arrangement comprises a motor 155 adapted to drive the wheel by applying a force to the rim 150 of the wheel. At least part of the drive arrangement is adapted to be fitted inside the wheel. The drive arrangement is adapted to be adjustable between a locked configuration, in which when at least partially fitted inside the wheel the drive arrangement cooperates with the rim of the wheel to prevent its removal from the wheel, and an unlocked configuration, in which removal of the drive arrangement from the wheel is permitted. The drive arrangement can comprise of a balance control system 170 and the locking system can be a mechanical linkage. The drive arrangement can comprise of at least one drive wheel in frictional contact with the rim of the wheel in the locked configuration. |
