<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic key system which reduces power consumption associated with communication, while securing security. <P>SOLUTION: When security of communication is not required to as high a degree as ordinary communication, communication between an on-vehicle device 20 and an electronic key 10 is simplified. Specifically, the number of bits of a challenge signal and a response signal is reduced in first simple communication, and the challenge signal and the response signal are omitted in second simple communication. Power consumption of the on-vehicle device 20 and the electronic key 10 is reduced by such simplification of communication. In addition, when it is supposed that the security of a vehicle is not secured, the security can be wholly secured because the communication is not simplified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
