The present invention relates to a non-aqueous electrolyte for a secondary battery and a secondary battery including the same. According to the present invention, the non-aqueous electrolyte includes a non-aqueous solvent, a lithium salt, and dimethyl 2-thioxo-1,3-dithiole-4,5-dicarboxylate compounds used as electrolyte additives. The secondary battery employing the non-aqueous electrolyte can improve the electrochemical properties and lifetime at room temperature and high temperatures.
