摘要 A probe 36a contacts the inner surface of a wellbore and imparts energy at the contact point. Energy may be imparted around the circumference of the wellbore and a fiber optic distributed sensor 56 located on the outer surface of the casing or other tubing is used to record the energy that it receives whilst the probe is moved. A record of energy versus position of the probe around the circumference can be obtained, from which maxima in the detected energy measurements can then be found. The position around the circumference which gave the maximum measurement should be the position at which the optical fiber of the fiber optic distributed sensor is located. This may allow a perforation gun to avoid damaging the optical fibres. The probe may be an acousto-vibrational tapper, a heated probe, or alternatively an electromagnetic projection device such as a laser. Alternatively the optical fibre may impart energy to the interior surface of the wellbore, and a sensor on a downhole tool in contact with the interior surface may detect the energy at a point of contact.
