Class 86 [Also in Groups V and XXX] A mixing device that delivers hot plastic material to a chamber whence it is injected into a mould (see Group V) comprises a screw 40 working in a cylinder 4 fed by a hopper 28. The screw consists of a main part 41 having a thread of decreasing pitch and a short second thread 43, and an end part 42 having a pitch equal to the smallest pitch of the part 41. The end part 42 is screwed into the main part, and may be replaced by a part having a constant pitch greater than the smallest pitch of part 41 or by a part having a decreasing pitch. The chamber consists of three tubular sections 5, 6, 7, and an end block 10 all of which are heated by electrical means 100. The parts 5 and 7 are cooled by liquid channels 109, 105. A nozzle 32 is cooled by channel 114. The hopper is cooled by means of a spiral jacket 106. |
