[Also in Group XVI] A normal typewriter keyboard for controlling the punching and/or typing of record cards has certain of the keys (e.g. within the line 21) also adapted to control punching as in a "keypunch keyboard", the certain keys being selected so that their arrangement corresponds substantially to that of the keys of a "keypunch keyboard", Fig. 2. The keys which are used for both purposes are arranged in four rows of three and when being used for punching the typewriter has to be turned slightly so that relatively to the operator the position of the dual-purpose keys is as shown in Fig. 2. In an alternative arrangement, the typewriter is modified so that the normal deviation to the right, of the second and fourth rows, as shown by line 23, is avoided.
