The system has a therapy device data communication control unit which controls therapy device data communication interface such that data transmission occurs in anyone of the data transmission modes. One of the data transmission modes is selected based on one or more predefined selection criteria. The control unit changes from one transmission mode to another transmission mode based on occurrence of event corresponding to the selection criteria such that pre-existing data link is not interrupted and rather continued in another transmission mode.
