An airbag case 14 includes inner housing portion 31 with a lid 32 integrally formed at an edge of its opening 40. The inner housing 31 is configured to hold a folded airbag 16 and its inflator 15. Integrally formed lid 32 at least partially covers the opening 40 and the airbag 16. The opening and the lid are covered by an outer portion 21. The lid 32 can be hinged from a peripheral supporting flange 65 which folds over a supporting flange 54 extending from the housing 31 via bent hinge 68. Temporary fixings 83 clip the lid in place to cover the opening 40. The lid 32 can be hinged 67 directly at the opening of the inner housing (fig 8). The case 14 in which inflator 15 and folded airbag 16 are housed can be manufactured as a single component without integration of a separately provided housing portion and lid. Manufacture can be by supporting the lid 32 from below and pressure bonding the cover 21 from above (fig 18).
