<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint authentication method for, in the case of adopting the output of re-input guidance for fingerprint authentication processing using spectrum/data comparison as fingerprint collation means, achieving the quickening of fingerprint authentication processing and the reduction of power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A fingerprint authentication method includes: extracting a nucleus area 34d on the basis of the distribution of directional component information of a first sub-image area 31b in template data 31a generated by setting directional component information corresponding to the inclination of a ridge 31c of a fingerprint in each of a plurality of the first sub-image areas 31b divided in fingerprint image data 11; performing fingerprint collation processing by spectrum/data comparison by using the template data 31a when the nucleus area 34d is positioned in a fingerprint collation validating area 34e; and selecting re-input guidance by using the position information of the nucleus area 34d in the template data 31a when the nucleus area 34d is not positioned in the fingerprint collation validating area 34e. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
