A contactless power supply (100) is provided for providing power along a driving surface (106). The contactless power supply includes first and second conductive elements (102,104) each adapted to generate a magnetic flux when driven with a time-varying current. The first and second conductive elements (102,104) are electrically isolated and spaced apart from each other and extend generally parallel to the driving surface (106). A driving circuit (108) is separately connected to each of the first and second conductive elements (102,104), and is adapted to separately drive the first and second conductive elements (102,104) to define a region of cumulative magnetic flux, the region of cumulative magnetic flux being along the driving surface (106) and between the first and second conductive elements (102,104).
