In a system to update a navigation device automatically, the present invention relates to a device and a method for automatically updating a navigation device, which is a technology capable of operating the navigation device using one storing medium while updating the navigation device while driving by installing identical software and storing database in two storing media and capable of updating the navigation device even after a vehicle engine stops using a 24-hours power source and synchronizing a data version installed in the two storing media. The device for automatically updating the navigation device includes a storing unit composed of at least two storing module wherein at least one among map data, user authorization information, and map version information are stored; a control unit extracting the user authorization information and map version information from the storing unit, driving the navigation device using a first storing module, and updating a second storing module using difference data; and a communication unit transmitting the user authorization information and map version information extracted by the control unit to an update server and receiving the difference data from the update server. The present invention is characterized by automatically updating the map data in the second storing module while the vehicle engine is operated, supplying power using the 24-hours power source after stopping the engine, and synchronizing the data versions of the first and second storing modules by updating the difference data, which is updated in the second storing module, in the first storing module. |
