摘要 A structure monitoring apparatus adapted to determine the fatigue damage to an offshore pipe, includes a strain gauge, which in use provides a monitoring point on an offshore pipe and communicates signals indicative of a strain value of a monitored offshore pipe to an information processing means; whereby said processing means comprises an algorithm for providing information indicative of a bending moment within a discretised bending moment variation table; An extrapolation means further comprising a unique transfer function for extrapolating said information indicative of discretised bending moment variation table into information indicative of a bending moment variation at a plurality of points along a length of a monitored offshore pipe; A damage identifying means for translating cycles of bending moment variation into an equivalent fatigue damage per cycle; and a damage accumulation means for combining said bending moment variation table with both said unique transfer function and said damage per cycle to provide information indicative of sustained damage, along a length of an offshore pipe, for a monitored time duration. A computer program for use with the apparatus is also claimed.
