A method for electrolessly metalizing an object comprising the steps of: forming an electroless metalizing aqueous bath including no more than trace amounts of perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and further including a metal salt, a reducing agent, a complexing agent, and a dispersion of particulate matter; cleaning the surface of said object; controlling the temperature and pH of said electroless metalizing aqueous bath; immersing said object in said electroless metalizing aqueous bath for a duration to form a resultant metalized coating with an effective amount of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) on said object; and removing said object from said electroless metalizing aqueous bath; wherein said dispersion of particulate matter includes PTFE particulate matter and at least one particulate matter stabilizer, and the concentration of said dispersion in said bath is in the range of 3-10 g/l.
