Provided are a method and a system for controlling access to a medium in a wireless communication system. A super frame structure includes one or more scheduled resource allocation (SRA), one or more management SRA (MSRA), and a contention free period (CFP) having a competition period. An extended beacon (EB) including information relating to SRA and MSRA are transmitted. An MAC architecture reduces a station battery consumption, supports larger process amount for non-real time (NRT) traffic, and is more efficient for real time (RT) traffic while maintaining perfect compatibility. |
