Class 94(ii) In an envelope-making machine of the plunger type, envelopes are ejected in succession from the tumbling table by directing a blast of air against the closing flap when the table is downturned. In the machine described, the table 10, 11, 12, Figs. 1 and 3, is pivoted by trunnions 13 in bearings 14 on the frame 15, 15A. The table carries a pair of air nozzles 35 secured to a block 36 adjustably attached to the support 10 by bolts 37 passing through slots 31. The nozzles are interconnected by a passage 38 in block 36 and their uppermost portions 35A are directed forward over the surface of plate 11. An inlet tube 39 in block 36 is connected by a flexible tube 40 to a tube 42, extending into one of the trunnions 13, which forms a continuation of the air supply conduit 43 which is fitted with a self-closing valve 44. The valve is operated by a striker 47 on a rotatable shaft 48 acting through a bellcrank lever 46 and the valve stem 45. When the tumbling table 10, 11, 12, is turned downwards with an envelope thereupon, at an appropriate time the valve is operated to direct air blasts from nozzles 35 against the inside of the envelope closure flap. The envelope is accordingly ejected against the deflector 34 which guides it on to the conveyer fingers 32 which remove it for drying of the adhesive. Specification 686,978 is referred to. |
