PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink excellent in ejection durability and sticking recovering properties and capable of maintaining ejectable property over a long period of time.SOLUTION: There is provided an aqueous ink for use in an inkjet recording method in which the ink is ejected from a recording head by an action of thermal energy. The recording head includes: a heating resistor for generating the thermal energy; and a protective layer which includes at least one of a metal and a metal oxide and which protects the heating resistor and come into contact with the ink. The ink contains: a dye in which the ratio Mw/N of the molecular weight Mw of the dye to the number of carboxylic acid groups included in the molecular structure of the dye is 340 or less; a compound represented by the following general formula (I); and bis(2-hydroxyethyl)sulfone.
