PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To drain water accumulated in a cooling air system while preventing the performance loss of a gas turbine.SOLUTION: Provided is an operating method for a gas turbine 200 that includes a cooling air system 300 in which an intermediate stage or an outlet of a compressor 201 is connected to a turbine 203 and compressed air extracted from the compressor 201 is supplied to the turbine 203, and including a TCA cooler (heat exchanger) 303 cooling the compressed air; and drain water discharge valves (a first drain water discharge valve 402 and a second drain water discharge valve 403) provided downstream of the TCA cooler 303 in a flow direction of the compressed air, the TCA cooler 303 and the drain water discharge valves being disposed halfway along the cooling air system 300, the method comprising controlling the drain water discharge valves into an open state for a predetermined period after the gas turbine 200 reaches a rated speed for starting the gas turbine 200, and then controlling the drain water discharge values into a closed state.
