PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing high purity monoalkyl sulfate by reacting dialkyl sulfate and alkali metal salt in an organic solvent. ! SOLUTION: There is provided the method for producing monoalkyl sulfate by reacting dialkyl sulfate represented by the formula (I) and an alkali metal salt represented by the formula (II).
