The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling an electric motor. The apparatus for controlling an electric motor according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: an inverter supplying current to the electric motor; a current sensor sensing the current supplied from the inverter to the electric motor; and a control unit controlling the inverter to supply the current to the electric motor, obtaining a first offset value and a second offset value sensed by the current sensor at a plurality of time points, comparing the obtained offset values, and updating the offset values based on the result of comparing the offset values. |
