摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage of a catalyst while keeping an air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture near a theoretical air-fuel ratio, and to obtain higher engine output in a high request load region.SOLUTION: A control device for controlling an opening of a throttle valve and a valve opening timing of an intake valve in each of a low order request load region where a stepping amount of an accelerator pedal is small, a medium order load region in which the stepping amount of the accelerator pedal is more than that in the low order request load region, and a high order request load region where the stepping amount of the accelerator pedal is much, increases the opening of the throttle valve in accordance with increase of the stepping amount of the accelerator pedal in the low order request load region and the medium order request load region, and does not increase the opening of the throttle valve furthermore even when the stepping amount of the accelerator pedal is increased in the high order request load region, so that an upper limit of an advance angle amount of the valve opening timing of the intake valve in the medium order request load region is controlled to be smaller than an upper limit of an advance angle amount of the valve opening timing of the intake valve in the high order request load region, under a condition of the same engine rotating speed.</p>
