The present invention relates to a method for operating a rotating brushless electric machine. The electric machine comprises at least three phase coils (U, V, W). Each phase coil comprises a first phase winding terminal (9, 12, 30) and a second phase winding terminal. The phase coils are connected to each other. Specifically, the second phase winding terminal of each phase coil is connected to a common neutral point (1). Separate pulse width modulated voltage signals are supplied to the individual phase coils (U, V, W), and at least one selected phase coil (U, V, W) is connected to a constant electric potential (5, 6) at least momentarily. While the selected phase coil (U, V, W) is connected to the constant electric potential, the pulse width modulated voltage signals supplied to the other phase coils (U, V, W) are mutually phase shifted at least momentarily to minimize a switching process and reduce a alternating current portion of a current source. |
