PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber fusion splicing device which allows for securing high reliability of a reinforced portion without unnecessarily extending time for reinforcement work even when the reinforcement work is interrupted.SOLUTION: An optical fiber fusion splicing device includes; a first heating unit 12 for performing fusion splicing work for fusion-splicing at least a pair of optical fibers F having each end in contact with another by heating the contact point; a second heating unit 13 for performing reinforcement work for thermally shrinking a heat-shrinkable resin placed over the fusion splice point of the optical fibers F; and a CPU 14 for controlling the first heating unit 12 and second heating unit 13. The CPU 14 makes the second heating unit 13 stop heating when the first heating unit 12 starts heating up while the second heating unit 13 is heating and, when the first heating unit 12 finishes heating, makes the second heating unit 13 resume heating. Heating conditions for the second heating unit 13 after the resumption of heating are set based at least on a period of heating interruption on the second heating unit 13. |
