PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground improving method and drain material capable of efficiently and economically carrying out ground improvement when different methods are applied to each layer of 2 layered ground in order to improve the ground.SOLUTION: The ground improving method is a ground improving method for 2 layered ground G of lower layer and upper layer. An integrated drain material 10 is prepared, in which integrated are a first drain material 11 having a length corresponding to the thickness of improvement layer of the lower layer G1 and a second drain material 12 having a length corresponding to the thickness of improvement layer of the upper layer G2. The integrated drain material is spiked on the 2 layered ground as the improvement target. Simultaneously carried out are first ground improvement step subjected to the lower layer by negative pressure with the first drain material and second ground improvement step subjected to the upper layer by negative pressure with the second drain material.
