PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure where cracks are not caused in a sintered body and a gap is not generated between a tip of the sintered body and a tip part even by high-temperature heating in lighting, in a discharge lamp including the sintered body sealed in a sealed space that is formed at the inside of a cathode comprising a body part and the tip part bonded together, the sintered body containing a high-concentration emitter (excluding thorium). ! SOLUTION: In a discharge lamp, a front end side of a sintered body 34 sealed in a sealed space 33 of a cathode 3 is brought into contact with a tip part 32, and a pressing member 35 for pressing the sintered body to a side of the tip part is provided on a rear end side of the sintered body in the sealed space. !
