PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet printer capable of reducing a load applied to a user when a roll medium of a heavy weight is attached and detached as compared to the conventional technique. ! SOLUTION: An inkjet printer 10 includes a printing part 30 which executes the printing to a roll medium 80 as a roll-type printing medium, a playing-out side retention part 40 which retains the roll medium 80 for the printing by means of the printing part 30 and a medium hoist device 60 which changes the height of the roll medium 80. Therein, the medium hoist device 60 changes the height of the roll medium 80 between a height upon floor installation when the roll medium 80 is installed on a floor 90 on which the inkjet printer 10 is installed and a height for retention in order for the roll medium 80 to be retained on the playing-out side retention part 40. !
